Hurricane Ike.......HITS KENTUCKY!!!!!

On Sunday, September 14th the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew across the mid-west and right through good 'ol Owensboro, Kentucky! We had sustained 50-90 mph winds for 2+ hours and the pix below show the aftermath. We were without power for 25 hours and we have family members who were without power for 3-4 days. The power still hasn't been restored to all parts of the city.

All the pix below were taken within 10 minutes of our apartment!

Yep, were fine! Our apartment complex lost some of the guttering on one building, some trees and a few roofing shingles but all in all we did OK. We did loose pretty much everything in our freezer and fridge because everyone we knew was without power as well so we had nowhere to take the stuff. And we had just went to the grocery store the day before and bought a ton of stuff! Oh well, it could always be worse and if grocery's are all we lost I'm thankful for that! =)

Hope you guys are doing well!

Still that sucks, groceries can get expensive. If that would have been us, I would have told Bob to grab a fork and spoon and start eating! We are good, I am glad you guys are okay. Hope all your neighbors get back to normal soon!

This is just another reason or sign that you guys should move BACK HERE!!! We don't have hurricanes. I think you should come back.

Sure miss you and I am so glad you guys didn't have too serious of problems. Those are incredible pictures. I can't even imagine.

Love ya~

oh wow... those pictures are incredible! Now you can say you lived through a hurricane!! I'm so glad you are okay, although the groceries suffered a loss. :) We all miss you guys way too much ... maybe next time Ike (or a friend of his) could blow you over to Utah?? See what you can arrange.

The scenery looks absolutely gorgeous there - if you ignore the mass destruction! We need more green in Utah!

We miss you all too! We'll be back, just not sure when.

p.s. The scenery is nice here.....minus the mass destruction! =)
