WEEKLY GOALS

So even though my weigh in this week SUCKED, I haven't lost my drive. In fact, I am more determined to show a loss next week. Watch me go!

Mon - 0 minutes cardio, 0 minutes burned, 1146 calories in
Tue- 0 minutes cardio, 0 calories burned, 1413 calories in
Wed - 0 minutes cardio, 0 calories burned, 1269 calories in

Things I learned last week:
~I cannot maintain a 90 minute cardio workout daily for more than 3 days in a row. My body does not like it yet and I am definitely not fit enought YET for it.
~It is very easy for me to get distracted from meeting my small, but very important goals of daily prayer and scripture study. I need to keep my priorities in line.
~I cannot keep a bag of hershey's extra creamy milk chocolate with almonds and toffee pieces in the house. I do not have self-control (hence the 1600 calories I took in Sunday. 500 of those were this blasted, lovely candy.)
~I'm getting sick of incline interval training. But it is effective. Blast. I'll keep at it for now.

MONDAY WEIGH IN

On Monday June 23, I weighed in at

147.0

Today Monday June 30, I weighed in at

147.4
WHAT?!

Just in case you're wondering, here's a recap of last weeks calories in and burned:

Mon - 30 minutes cardio, 200 calories burned, 1300 calories in
Tue - 90 minutes cardio, 579 calories burned, 1200 calories in
Wed - 74 minutes cardio, 518 calories burned, 1350 calories in
Thu - 60 minutes cardio, 415 calories burned, 1188 calories in
Fri - 0 minutes cardio, 0 calories burned, 1190 calories in
Sat - 60 minutes cardio, 412 calories burned, 1309 calories in
Sun - rest day, 1629 calories in

So my weekly total take in was: 9166.
My weekly total burned through cardio was: 2124.

I found some websites
(my favorite) that calculate a rough estimate of how many calories your body needs daily to maintain normal bodily functions (called your BMR or basal metabolic rate) based on your height, weight, age and gender and they averaged around 1450 give or take a few. They then tell you a number to multiply that by to factor in your daily activity caloric needs. I factored mine at sedentary(1.2) because I sit at a desk for 8 to 10 hours a day. 1450 x 1.2 = 1740. So my body needs roughly 1740 calories daily to maintain my present body weight. That would put my weekly calorie needs at 12,180.

My body "needs" 12,180 calories. I took in 9,166. I burned, through cardio, 2124. That gives me a deficit of 5138. Since 1 pound of fat = 3500 calories, I should have lost at least a pound if not more.

Now don't get me wrong, I realize that these are all estimates and can be slightly off one way or the other but even if my deficit is off by 1500 calories I still should have lost some weight. I worked my butt off (I thought)

Can someone please explain to me why I didn't lose any weight and in fact gained some?!

I'D LOST MY MOJO; BUT I THINK I'VE FOUND IT!

So here's the deal.

Since April I have been working to lose weight. Okay, okay that's not true. During April and part of May I worked hard to lose weight. Then I injured my hip/groin area (probably one of the sexiest injuries to have) and I had to stop working out while I let it heal. Unfortunately for me, I seem to be an all or nothing kind of girl, so I slacked on my eating also. Then I went to Young Women's Camp where they fed us 3 delicious meals plus lots of snacks, daily (think biscuits and gravy, pulled pork sandwiches, Parmesan chicken, and brownies; I was in heaven!) So I gained 4 pounds. The really sad part of that story - before the 4 pounds of butter joined my hips and stomach, I was only
.4
pounds away from a 10 pound loss! (Which would have been an 18 pound loss since I was last in Utah!) Needless to say I became very discouraged. I have lost 2 of the 4 pounds so that's good, but I am still really struggling. So, now for my idea. I am going to go out on a limb here and use this blog to motivate myself to kick my own butt into gear. I know what I should be doing and now I will have some extra accountability.
I AM GOING TO BLOG ABOUT MY WEIGHT LOSS. I AM GOING TO EMBARRASS MYSELF BY POSTING MY ACTUAL WEIGHT. I AM GOING TO POST WEEKLY EATING AND EXERCISE GOALS AND THEN I AM GOING TO BE HONEST ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT I MET THEM.

I know, extreme, but I'm hoping it works. So, if any of you other ladies want to join me, feel free. Please leave comments and let me know if you are doing the same thing on your blog. Don't worry, you don't have to share you actual weight, just I do!

Wish me luck!
